Coming together at Streaky Bay

A large crowd was present for the ‘Growing Together’ event at Streaky Bay on the weekend.

One of two events to be hosted on Eyre Peninsula by Mentally Fit EP to promote wellbeing among farming communities, Growing Together included workshops promoting resilience in farmers on Saturday, a dinner, and family fun day on Sunday.

About 35 people attended the workshops which were led by guest speakers talking about mental wellness, communication, and supporting others, among other topics.

After Gabrielle and Dallas Waters entertained the crowd with music it was time for the dinner which saw 100 people in attendance to listen to the guest speakers, farmer David Head and former AFL player Sam Kekovich.

Mr Head spoke of struggles he has endured throughout his farming career, while Mr Kekovich provided laughs and strong messages about the challenges of farming.

The night was topped off with live music by local band The Fluffers, and was followed by an activity day on Sunday which was attended by about 250 people.
