Thomas wows crowd in Cowell

The Franklin Harbour District Council kicked off its community Australia Day Breakfast bright and early at 7.30am at the Cowell Lions Park.

The council organised for South Australian Rural Woman of the Year Alex Thomas to be the guest speaker for the presentations.

Mr Smith said coming from a farming background, what Ms Thomas had to say resonated with her audience.

The previous day, she held a workplace safety workshop for 17 members of the Cowell community.

Young Citizen of the Year Ethan Grigg and Citizen of the Year Allan Zerna were presented with their awards for their contributions to the community.

Cowell Area School were presented with the Community Event of the Year Award for their work hosting the Eastern Eyre Peninsula Area Schools Sports Association Athletics Carnival.
